I took a drive up the Hoogekraal road and through the seven passes. It was a magnificent day and I couldn’t help wondering why it is that the tourists to this area are so hung up on expansive sea views and adrenaline sport.  What about wooden forest cottages and rustic log cabins in Knysna’s indigenous forests ? What about the fynbos? The proteas and mountain views? Isn’t this what the Garden Route is all about?
